Gerry Bramley's "Adult Literacy, Basic Skills And Libraries"

This book provides an in-depth analysis of all aspects of adult learning, which not only encompasses the topic of purely intelligence, such as numeracy and literacy, but also life skills, which includes things like social and practical skills.

Approaching each topic with the sensitivity and respect it deserves, Bramley examines the causes that can lead to lack of education and skills in adulthood, as well as specifics like ethnic minorities, the handicapped and disabled, and the economically disadvantaged.

I picked this up out of interest and wanting to expand my knowledge, having read extensively on primary and secondary education. It had me from the very first page, so I think I've found a new hot topic. This book is especially suitable for teachers and librarians, but it wouldn't hurt if all adults added this to their own personal curriculum.
